The city of La Paz is the second largest and most populated urban nucleus in Bolivia; apart from that, the city contains the second highest economy in Bolivia.
La Paz is divided into three geographic regions: (1) the highland region, (2) the sub-Andean region, and (3) the Amazonian region.
The entire department of La Paz is very rich in bio-diversity; within, you may find some highly recommendable touristic places to visit – such as:
• Tiwanaku – a pre-Inka culture,
• Copacabana (Lake Titicaca),
• Island of the Sun (Lake Titicaca) – where the Inka culture was born,
• Island of the Moon,
• “Los Yungas” – where valleys and plains can be found (Death Road), and
• Madidi National Park – where the Amazonian Rainforest of La Paz can be found.
The city of La Paz was named one of the «Seven New World Wonders” by the Seven Wonders Foundation. The city also appears in National Geographic’s 3rd position of “best cities for parties, clubs, and nightlife.”
The Valley of the Moon, located in the southern part of the city of La Paz, has been a natural attraction for centuries, and its erosion helped create capricious formations of cones and craters that resemble a lunar landscape, giving visitors the sensation of having discovered an unknown world.
