07:30 am – Personal pickup from your hotel in the center of La Paz to start the trip to the village of Huatajata via an asphalted highway; the trip will take approximately 2 hours and offers an impressionable view of the Andes mountain range.
09:30 am – Arrival to Huatajata (approximate arrival) and visit to the artisanal center Kon – Tiki, owned by the builder of transoceanic rafts, Paulino Esteban; there you will also have the opportunity to buy artisanal items built with cattails – like little decorative rafts, amongst other things. Afterwards, we will take a boat to the Island of K’ala Uta – which is the city of stone ruins – navigating by the minor lake body of Lake Titicaca. When we arrive, we will take about a 45-minute walk on the island to visit the “chullpas” – funeral tombs made of stone that have their relation to the Tiwanaku and Aymara cultures. After visiting the funeral tombs, we will continue navigating by lake to the Island of Pariti where we will visit the archaeological museum which shows a variety of valuable ceramic artifacts from the Tiwanaku culture of the Classic Era (500-800 A.D.). Continuing, we will return to Huatajata to have lunch (fresh trout – a lunch that is typical to the village) – and, in the afternoon, we will return to the city of La Paz.
