AM – 45-minute flight from La Paz – Rurrenabaque.
AM – Upon arrival to Rurrenabaque (approximate arrival), you will be transferred to your hotel and then – in the afternoon – we will meet in the Chalalán office to fill out the Madidi National Park entrance forms and to receive information regarding the trip to the Chalalán Ecolodge (Ecolodge) and to Madidi National Park.
Hotel in Rurrenabque: Provides a hotel room with private bathroom + breakfast.
Included: Transfer out/in, flight ticket from La Paz – Rurrenabaque + accommodation at the Ecolodge.
07:20 am – After breakfast, we will personally pick you up from your hotel and then head down to the dock where we will take a motor boat towards our destination of the Ecolodge; the trip is approximately 5.5 hours and involves a passing through the Beni and Tuichi rivers. During the trip, you will have the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate the beautiful landscapes through the Canyon of Bala (Bala George) which are tropical jungle landscapes – and, you may even be able to observe certain types of animals and birds. While traveling, we will have time to enjoy a boxed lunch or snacks. Once we have exited the boat, we will take a 25-minute walk following the Jaguar Trail until reaching Lake Chalalán where we will find the Ecolodge. After arriving to the Ecolodge, you will be welcomed and then find accommodations in your respected rooms; there will be lunch upon arrival.
Afternoon – After having lunch, we will take a short walk via one of our trails in which the local guide will give a detailed interpretation of the humid forest and its traditional function. After the short walk, we will return in canoe to observe certain species of birds and monkeys. After dinner, we will take another short walk to observe the night sounds of the animals and insects that come out at night.

AM – After breakfast in the Ecolodge, we will take a walk of about 3-to-4 hours via the Tapacare Trail (or one that is similar) in order to be able to observe and appreciate plants that can be used for medicinal purposes and also the behavior of the animals found in the jungle – amongst other things. Afterwards, we will return to the Ecolodge, have lunch – and then, in the afternoon, we will rest (with the opportunity to take a nap), traveling to a place afterwards that offers a beautiful view of the landscapes found by Lake Chalalán as well as of the primary extensive tropical jungle of Madidi National Park. There will be a talk regarding the history of the community, the Chalalán project, and the creation of Madidi National Park. After having dinner back at the Ecolodge, we will take a canoe ride or night walk to observe the animals and the nocturnal birds.

Very early in the morning – After having breakfast, we will take a short walk through one of trails where we will have the last opportunity to observe some animals and birds. We will, then, return to the Ecolodge, have lunch, and then walk to the entrance to Chalalán in order to find motor boat transportation to Rurrenabaque; during the boat ride, it is recommended to be on alert because there will be many animals which you can see. The boat ride is approximately 3 hours. Once we arrive to Rurrenabaque, we will find accommodation in the selected hotel.

AM – After breakfast in the Ecolodge, we will start a full-day 6-hour walk via the Eslabón river in order to enter into the most profound parts of the forest and have the opportunity to observe a variety of animals – like: the spider monkey, tapir, deer, wild pigs, etc.; likewise, we will be able to learn more about the interpretation of the humid, tropical jungle and its ecological processes. We will have a snack near the Eslabón river and then take a small rest, returning to the Ecolodge after observing the different landscapes where we will be. Once we arrive to the Ecolodge, we will have another snack and then rest; during the rest period, you will be able to enjoy Lake Chalalán – even take a bath in the lake if you prefer – or, just take a swim. When we have dinner, dinner will be typical of the region that is in the form of a buffet. After dinner, we will take a canoe boat ride and participate in a special activity in order to observe the impressionable glow of the eyes of the alligators and other animals; during this traditional Quechuan and Tacanan night, we will be able to hear from the local guides an explanation on the customs, rituals, and different works of the native Uchupiamonas. In addition to the explanation, you will be able to enjoy a local traditional drink, listen to local music, and also dance with the people of the community of San José de Uchupiamonas.
