Sajama National Park is protected by its wildlife and flowers and shares approximately 200,000 hectares of surface area. The economy of the villages that are part of this park – like Sajama and Caripe – is based on the breeding of Andean camelids such as the Alpaca and llamas, as well as the project of vicuña management – a tool used for economic, productive, and social development that consists in the commercial, sustainable exploitation of the fiber of the vicuña by the Aymaran cattle community of the highlands for the purpose of increased income.
