08:00-08:40 am – Personal pickup from your hotel/hostel in the center of La Paz to start the trip to the Chacaltayan cabin which is located at an altitude of 5,300 meters above sea level; transportation is about 2 hours. During the trip, we will have the opportunity to observe the Andean camelids which inhabit the region (alpacas and llamas). From the beginning of the Chacaltayan cabin, we will initiate the ascension of about 100 meters with the tour guide until arriving to the top of the mountain; from there, we will have some extraordinary views of the mountains of Huayna Potosí, Mururata, and Illimani – as well as part of Lake Titicaca. After visiting the mountains, we will descend to the south of the city of La Paz where the Valley of the Moon is located; due to the many years of sedimentary erosion which have formed a set of amazing stony formations, this valley gives every tourist a chance to admire what appears to be a very interesting lunar scene. After finishing the tour, we will return to the center of the city of La Paz.
